7 Things You Need to Know About Chiropractic Spinal Screening

Backache and Neck pains are something that almost everyone has suffered from at some point. However, how do you know if that pain you’ve been feeling lately is just a symptom of having a pinched nerve or pulling a muscle? What if it was an indication of something much more concerning, like degenerative disc disease?

In this article, we’ll be sharing with you exactly what the most common symptoms are for those suffering from degenerative disc disease and more. We also dish out the Top 10 Things You Need to Know About Chiropractic Spinal Screening and why you need this test based on the checklist of symptoms that you have when experiencing more than the ordinary neck and back pains.

What is Chiropractics?

To give you a better idea of what chiropractic is all about, although it is not a form of traditional Western Medicine such as the care we get in hospitals, it isn’t a form of Eastern Medicine either.

Instead of the usual courses of treatment that we get in traditional Western Medication (which is based on drugs and surgery) Chiropractic treatment is a form of alternative or complementary medicine that focuses on diagnosing and treating the musculoskeletal system.

Known to be one of the largest alternative medical professions there is, Chiropractors commonly believe that they are primary care providers. The techniques involved in such treatment focus mainly on such therapy like manual manipulation of the spine, joints, and soft tissues. Along with this course of treatment, exercise and lifestyle counseling are sometimes included in Chiropractic diagnosis and treatment.

Chiropractic Spinal Screening

So now you’re clued into what exactly chiropractic is. The question now is, “What is spinal screening? And what does it involve?”.

As with all medical treatments, there are different methods or approaches that are used in examining you to find out what’s wrong and how to treat your ailment. This is one such method Chiropractors use to come up with a diagnosis and course of treatment.

We’ve laid out for you a list of important things you need to know about Chiropractic Spinal Screening to be sure you’ve covered all bases if and when you decide to go in for one.

Things You Need To Know…

  1. What is Chiropractic Spinal Screening?
This is a type of initial screening that Chiropractors use to assess your spine and overall posture. This usually takes just a few minutes to evaluate how good your posture is and what you can do to make it better. This also helps to see if there are bigger spinal problems or other structural abnormalities that may cause a problem for you in the future such as spinal degradation or slipped disc.

In some cases, the need for additional testing such as X-rays or the need for an MRI or CT-scan is also called for by the Chiropractor for additional information. But this is only in select cases, so chances are, you won’t need these extra tests to properly diagnose what you have.

  1. Who should go to get such screening?

As like any other physical checkup, spinal screenings are available to everybody. However, if you are suffering particularly from pain in your neck or back area, have had a prior sports or other joint related injuries in the past, need therapy on recent surgery, or just feel some sort of recurring body pain, looking into getting checked is something to consider.

  1. What can it help treat?

There are a number of ways that Chiropractic treatment can help you. In cases that are diagnosed through spinal screening, issues regarding your gait, posture, and other such matters are the main issues that can be caught and treated.

For instance, those suffering from scoliosis or slipped disc, the proper course of treatment for each case can be given earlier rather than later.

  1. What can it help prevent?

As we age, the natural progression of our body gets less limber as they are when you are younger. This brings about certain complications with our health such as body aches and pains.

There are a number of such complications that can arise. However, some of the most severe issues that a person can suffer from (if not caught early on or treated) are :

  • Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD)
There are two types of degenerative disc disease that most commonly occurs are found in the cervical spine or the neck and the lumbar spine or the lower back.

Don’t be too alarmed!

Degenerative disc disease is not as bad as you may think. This is what medical practitioners, like chiropractors, use to describe the symptoms of pain from a degenerating disc in the spine. The term “degenerative” refers to “the disc degenerating as time goes on NOT degenerating your overall health.

The usual symptoms of those suffering from either DDD are usually chronic pain in the neck and lower back with pain levels depending on the person, intense flaring pain in the same area lasting anywhere between a few days to a few months before lessening to a dull pain, numbness or weakness radiating from the problem areas, certain activities tend to cause this pain to severe like bending or twisting, and/or inability to be comfortable unless they constantly change positions.

  • Vertebral Subluxation

The official WHO definition is:

"A lesion or dysfunction in a joint or motion segment in which alignment, movement integrity and/or physiological function are altered, although contact between joint surfaces remains intact. It is essentially a functional entity, which may influence biomechanical and neural integrity."

For more information click here.

  • Chronic Back Pain
This can be characterised as constant pain, usually in the lower area of the back, that range from nagging to intolerable. These types of pain also can be accompanied by episodes of intense pain or muscle spasms and can also be worsened by certain movements or positions like lying down or sitting.

These are sure-fire tips that will help you get that glowing and flawless skin you deserve without the professional salon/spa prices to pay for.

5 Steps to Clearer Skin

All you have to know are the five simple steps that make up what basically happens in just about any type of facial there is available. Once you have them down, you can have fun in your self-pampering with the different twists that you can throw in with each step.

Here is my personalized 5 step guide for at - home facial with the most effective DIY tips and home remedies that you can apply to each one:

Clean

First of all, remove all makeup from your face (if you're wearing any). If you don't already have a makeup remover at hand, here's a DIY video on making your own makeup remover wipes using baby shampoo and baby oil:

Once your face is makeup free, wash your face, ears, and neck with a good facial cleanser. If you don't have any, here are a few natural substitutes you can find in your kitchen that will make great cleansers:

  • Egg Yolk - A natural cleanser and toner. Just apply the yolk on your face, allow to dry, and wash off.
  • Papaya - Not only does it add glow and hydrates your skin, using papaya as your facial cleanser helps thoroughly remove your face of dirt.
  • Banana - An amazing natural cleanser and moisturizer that also reduces signs of aging with continuous use.
  • Mango - A great natural deep cleanser and toner that also has anti-aging properties.
  • Orange/Orange Peel - Rich in Vitamin C, using orange pulp, juice, or even just the peel makes your skin begin to glow.
  • Calamansi - A natural cleanser and bleacher and works as good as a lemon at a fraction of the cost.
  • Tomato - Helps in nourishing and brightening your skin along with making an even better cleanser and toner when used with Calamansi.

Exfoliate

Use the tips of your fingers to gently rub your exfoliating scrub around your face in circular motions. Continue scrubbing for about 5 minutes and leave on for another couple minutes before washing off.

If you don't have an exfoliating facial scrub, the natural cleansers I've mentioned above or your regular facial wash can work just as effectively when mixed with:

  • Sugar - Not only does it feel good on your skin, sugar crystals also contain glycolic acid which boosts cell regeneration stripping your skin of dead cells and boosting the production of new ones.

  • Sea Salt - If you have dry skin, this is the best thing to use to exfoliate. Sea salt rejuvenates your skin and is also amazing at helping your skin retain its moisture.

Steam

You can steam your face a number of ways. Two of the guaranteed ways to do so is with a bowl of hot water and a towel OR using a hot washcloth.

With the bowl of hot water, be sure to place your face at least 5 inches from the steam with a towel over your head. Do this for 5 to 10 minutes lifting your face to breath every so often. If you are planning to use a washcloth all you have to do is to dampen the cloth with hot water and press it to your face until it cools down, and then repeating the process 3-4 more times.

Mask

Here are a few DIY face mask recipes that all natural and are guaranteed to work:

The Simplest Advice About Writing You've Ever Heard

The Simplest Advice About Writing Articles

Probably the best advice that I've been given about writing is this:

Simplest advice on writing articles

The main purpose of actually stringing words together to form coherent sentences is to get what you're trying to say across to others. So why make your point the simplest way possible?

Simply keep writing.

Once you've narrowed down your topic and done your research, you can begin to write.

Get disciplined in writing.

If you really want to be a writer/blogger, you have to accept a certain level of discipline must be involved.

Setting up a blog post calendar and scheduling when you'll be writing within the week can take you leaps and bounds ahead than just writing "when you're in the mood."

Write even if you don't want to.

Stick to your scheduled writing time. There's no point in continuing on being a blogger if you're just going to blow it off when you don't feel like it.

Having a list of draft posts for you to get into can help you out with this. Writing consistently is a habit you can learn easily.

Write even if you can't think of anything to say.

“Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.” ― John Steinbeck

Having a blog post calendar is one of the best ways to get around having to write with no ideas popping up.

You can always scroll through the ideas you put in on your "good days" and go from there.

Keep your writing simple.

Be Yourself.

The best way to write great articles is to write them as if you are talking to the person that's going to read it. Imagine that person in front of you and write TO them.

Think of all the speeches, lectures, and sermons you've been to in the past and you'll see that the one's that have had a lasting impression on you are the ones that have been delivered as if the speaker was talking directly to you. Or am I mistaken?

Use Simple Words and Shorter Paragraphs

You don't really have to impress anyone on how great your vocabulary is and how many long words you can fit into your sentences. All you have to do to for your article to work is to get your main point across the way that you've meant it to.

Don't overdo it.

Try not to use more words than needed when trying to say something simple.

Using more words than necessary

Always keep your readers in mind.

Don't waste time rambling on and on about a subject matter that you can simply explain in just a few sentences. Take note that your readers will tend to get bored if you're redundant and don't really make sense after a paragraph or so.

EDIT with no mercy.

Delete, rewrite, or shorten anything that does not add anything important to what you have to say.  Be brutal in cutting away excessive words and phrases so that readers can get right into the heart to the matter in the simplest way possible.

Revise and Edit your article until you're satisfied that all your key points are there and that there is a cohesive flow of your ideas from beginning to end. Don't underestimate the power of re-reading your work.

Here's a video I found that may be helpful in visualizing things:

So there you have the simplest advice about writing articles you've ever heard. If you think that this is worth pursuing, you might find yourself a more avid blogger than you start off with.

I hope you learn it, live it, and write by it. You can also decide to voice out your opinion about this. I'm open to comments guys!

Of Losses And Love

If there could be a way for us to be together without us hurting each other in fear of the intensity of our love...then I would be by your side instantly instead of giving up to hold on to whatever whole of me left uncut.

I've been skimming through quotations to use for a topic I have in mind to write about this evening when I stumbled across this particular piece of writing that led my heart and thoughts straight back to you...

He could talk about love. He could see love and feel love. But he couldn’t give love.
He could make love. But he couldn’t make promises.
She had desperately wanted his promises.
She wanted his heart, knew she couldn’t have it so she took what she could get.
Temporary bliss. Passionate highs and lows. Withdrawal and manipulation.
He only stayed long enough to take what he needed and keep moving.
If he stopped moving, he would self-destruct.
If he stopped wandering, he would have to face himself.
He chose to stay in the dark where he couldn’t see.
If he exposed himself and the sun came out, he’d see his shadow.
He was deathly afraid of his shadow.
She saw his shadow, loved it, understood it. Saw potential in it.
She thought her love would change him.
He pushed and he pulled, tested boundaries, thinking she would never leave.
He knew he was hurting her, but didn’t know how to share anything but pain.
He was only comfortable in chaos. Claiming souls before they could claim him.
Her love, her body, she had given to him and he’d taken with such feigned sincerity, absorbing every drop of her.
His dark heart concealed.
She’d let him enter her spirit and stroke her soul where everything is love and sensation and surrender.
Wide open, exposed to deception.
It had never occurred to her that this desire was not love.
It was blinding the way she wanted him.
She couldn’t see what was really happening, only what she wanted to happen.
She suspected that he would always seek to minimize the risk of being split open, his secrets revealed.
He valued his soul’s privacy far more than he valued the intimacy of sincere connection so he kept his distance at any and all costs.
Intimacy would lead to his undoing—in his mind, an irrational and indulgent mistake.
When she discovered his indiscretions, she threw love in his face and beat him with it.
Somewhere deep down, in her labyrinth, her intricacy, the darkest part of her soul, she relished the mayhem.
She felt a sense of privilege for having such passion in her life.
He stirred her core.
The place she dared not enter.
The place she could not stir for herself.
But something wasn’t right.
His eyes were cold and dark.
His energy, unaffected.
He laughed at her and her antics, told her she was a mess.
Frantic, she looked for love hiding in his eyes, in his face, in his stance, and she found nothing but disdain.
And her heart stopped.”

I'd like to believe that the words in what were written is not true in it's entirety. That the feelings that I have for you is not just on my part, but on yours as well. If what I wish to believe is entirely not so, the thought of the truthfulness of what was described in this particular novel when based on the reality of what happened between us may very well be my undoing....

The almost complete shattering of what I felt in my heart as the perfect alignment of events that led to the finality of having to search for who could finally complete what each other was missing almost brought me to disappear.

If you only knew the torture that i had to endure as I struggled to deny the truth of what I knew was needed to be done, you'd have lost all color in the world during those moments like what happened to me...

But I knew I had to...For us to have a chance to survive each day...

I had to let go of this incredible love and the dream of being by your side from then on for the sake of our sanity. Other than the personal reasons that I have had to convince myself repeatedly as things that couldn't be set aside for my heart's sake, this will always be settling for something lesser than I now know what loving a person can be.

For all that I have written on this piece, the single thing I wish and wish and pray everyday could be dishonesty, is the feeling I have that I won't find someone who I could love and be loved in that same degree..

On Thinking About Trust...

TRUST
- From the Old Norse word "Traust" meaning: reliance on the veracity, integrity, or other virtues of someone or something;

“We are all mistaken sometimes; sometimes we do wrong things, things that have bad consequences. But it does not mean we are evil, or that we cannot be trusted ever afterward.” ― Alison Croggon

There are a number of different lessons that I've begun to figure out about trust and other emotional drugs these past few years...

One of the main things is that, trusting a person, all boils done to choice. IN THE BEGINNING. Then it's all up in the air from then on forcing us upon relying on our more baser instincts of "trusting out gut" when it comes to continuing that level of trust you have for that person. But then again that choice does not necessarily have to be decided on right away.

Sometimes, fun times can get in the way of seeing the bigger picture of the sincerity of a person. That certain comfort zone that we fall into that includes that particular person can become blinders to how the they actually feel regarding your relationship.

COMFORT ZONE = "Where our uncertainty, scarcity and vulnerability are minimized — where we believe we’ll have access to enough love, food, talent, time, admiration. Where we feel we have some control." - Rene Brown

The overall illusion of that safe haven you have with having that person in your life, regardless of how much of an asshole he/she is, can leave you shying away from letting that relationship go. The fear that if it does shatter, the universe will steer you into a darker and more f**k'd up hell of an obscure world from where you're at.

Well then, COWARD, you may as well stay on course. "Better the devil you know," right? EHHHHH!!!!
